Class #14 graduated at Truett Seminary.

October 2009

Baskets of Hope, our annual fundraiser was held on the 6th of this month. Many thanks to all those who spent countless hours to make this event a success.

September 2009

Our mentoring program is taking on a new look.  We’ve changed the name of the women who are serving as mentors to “Journey Partners.”  This is a more appropriate term for them because they are truly partnering with our women as they are on this journey to make positive lifestyle changes in their lives.  We welcome Sheryl Young as our new volunteer Journey Partners Coordinator.

Betty Orler, a CWJC graduate, is our Alumni Coordinator.  Her responsibilities include staying in contact with all our grads and planning activities for them, including service opportunities in the community.

June 2009

The Paul and Jane Meyer Foundation donated $6,000 which will cover our lease payments for one year.

May 2009

Irma Lopez, a CWJC graduate and MCC Presidential Scholar, has returned to school to study accounting and is the first in her family to attend college. Irma says she’s also happy that she is setting an example for her two sons to follow.

On May 4, 2004, women walked into the Christian Women’s Job Corps Center to begin classes and to make positive lifestyle changes in their lives.  That was class #1.  On April 30, 2009, women graduated from the CWJC program and are making changes in their lives now. That was class #13.

April 2009

Cen-Tex African American Chamber of Commerce provided a scholarship to participate in their motivational conferences for one of our CWJC women who recently lost her job.  Thank you, Laveda Brown and Gail King!

Over 500 people attended Baskets of Hope 2008, 139 baskets were sold, and $46,000 was raised from sponsors, reservations, basket sales, and donations.  Several women shared testimonies of what God is doing in their lives.

November 2007

Thank you to the Alcoa Foundation for a grant of $14.200. Internships with companies in Waco will be paid for with this grant so that our women can get some experience while the grant is paying their salary

Thank you to the Waco Foundation for $24,300 which will provide promotional materials as well as salary for a part-time community coordinator

October 2007

Baskets of Hope was wonderful and God received much glory that evening. We enjoyed hosting approximately 450 people. Over $33,000 was raised from sponsors, reservations, basket sales and donations. Thank you to all who supported us.

We celebrated our One Year Dinner for the group of women who attended classes in the fall of 2006. They have completed their one year commitment with their mentors. Congratulations to these women! All of the graduates in this class are employed and are supporting themselves and their families!

Thanks to Wal-Mart for a $1,000.00 grant.
Thanks to the PJM Family Foundation for a grant that provides monthly support.

May 2007

We made a video to promote Christian Women's Job Corps locally.
Thank you to the Waco Foundation for a $20,000 grant to buy new computers!!! 

Thanks to Betenbough Ministries in Lubbock, Texas for awarding us a $36,000 grant to support our mentoring program.
